Advocacy

What We Advocate For

CRDA advocates for policies and practices that support a fair, transparent and sustainable rideshare industry.

Our advocacy priorities include:

Fair & Transparent Pay

Drivers should have clear information about how their earnings are calculated and should receive fair compensation for the time and costs involved in providing rides.

Fair Deactivation & Appeals

Drivers should have access to clear reasons for deactivation, meaningful communication and a fair opportunity to appeal decisions affecting their ability to work.

Transparency & Accountability

Platform policies, fare structures and important decisions affecting drivers should be communicated clearly and applied fairly.

Driver Safety

Driver safety should remain a priority, with effective tools, reporting systems and meaningful support when safety incidents occur.

Recognition of Driver Concerns

Drivers should have a meaningful opportunity to communicate concerns and participate in discussions about policies that directly affect their work.

Government Oversight & Representation

Government and policymakers should have access to reliable information about the realities faced by rideshare drivers when developing regulations and policies.

Sustainable Working Conditions

The realities of fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation and other operating costs should be considered when policies affecting rideshare drivers are developed.

Our Advocacy Priorities

CRDA believes that identifying problems is only the first step. Meaningful advocacy also requires clear and practical solutions.

Based on driver feedback, evidence and research, CRDA will develop and publicly communicate specific policy recommendations for governments, regulators and rideshare platforms.

Our recommendations may address areas such as:

  • Greater transparency in driver earnings
  • Fair and understandable fare structures
  • Clearer deactivation policies
  • Meaningful appeal and review processes
  • Improved driver support
  • Driver safety measures
  • Recognition of the true costs of operating a vehicle
  • Greater driver participation in policy discussions
  • Appropriate government oversight
  • Transparent communication of major platform policy changes

Our priorities will be informed by the experiences and data collected from drivers across Canada.

We will bring evidence to the table — and clear recommendations for action.
